On 5th April 2011 a crew from RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann), Ireland's National Public Service Broadcaster, visited Swechha with Clare Kambamettu, the current 'Rose of Tralee' (an Ireland-based beauty competition/festival). Clare is VSO Ireland's ambassador and the documentary follows her visit to India to trace her ancestry (her father is Indian and mother Irish) and to visit several VSO partner organisations.
After welcoming Clare, her parents, VSO Ireland director, an official VSO photograper, and the TV crew to our office, colleagues and I took them all to various locations to shoot the story of our Green the Gap project. We began at Seelampur waste cloth market, where residents and vendors were very excited to be featured in the documentary, and recognised me and a colleague from our various fabric sourcing trips there. We then went to Select Citywalk mall for lunch and to see our GtG products on sale on a cart there, before returning to our tailors' workshop. The tailors were pleased to be filmed and photograped by professionals. The documentary will air in August 2011 and footage will be available online.
