YNW Banner

A first banner has been produced for the Yakaar Niani Wulli Federation. The banner is made from bands of organic fair trade cotton from the Koussanar area, and has been dyed using plants and a batik technique.

I started this blog in 2007 to share updates on my work in fair trade textiles and crafts. In 2006 I graduated with a BA(hons) degree in fashion design in London and have since been focusing on more socially and environmentally responsible alternatives to conventional textiles and apparel manufacture. From 2007 to 2010 I worked in Senegal, mainly on a fair trade organic cotton project with a local NGO. You will find information and photos of this on older blog posts (see blog archive below). From 2010 to 2011 I spent a year in India through VSO, managing communications and a fair trade recycled textiles project for a Delhi-based youth NGO. From Autumn 2011 I'm studying for the MSc Business and Community at the University of Bath.
